1. Skate Night

Day: Wednesday Janurary 28th (tomorrow)
Start: 18:30
End: 19:30 (earlier end time!)
Place: Outdoor rink at Steve MacLean Public School (different place!)

The pack is going to meet at rink.
Cubs can free skate.
Cubs can be tested for their skating badge
Cubs that don't wish to skate can build snow forts, etc.
Families are welcome.

Since the weather is pretty cold and we will be outside the whole time -- the meeting will only be for one hour (18:30 - 19:30).

Cubs should dress very warmly, bring extra mitts, face covering, etc.
Cubs should bring helmet + skates (if skating).
Cubs can bring equipment to build snow forts (shovels, etc).

2. Winter Camp

I haven't received any more details.
I will get more information and send it out the cubs attending.
Here are the notes from  last week.

3. Pit Stop Night

Date: Wednesday Feb 04 (next week).
This is the week before A-Pack Race Night.
Cubs should bring their cars in for inspection.
We'll have scales, weights, glue, etc. to help get the cars ready for the race on the following week.

4. Race Night

A-Pack Race Night
Date: Wednesday Feb 11 (two weeks from now)
Cubs in A-Pack will race against each other for fame and glory.

Winter Camp Numbers

A-Pack leaders are only available for the day -- not the sleep over.

2. Winter Camp

Our Rideau Area Winter Camp, Polar Sleep Over (Cub Scouts Strike Back) will take place at the Greely Legion on January 31-February 1, 2015.   Please see schedule for timings

I have a few reminders

We NEED NUMBERS BY Janaury 23, 2015 so the Food Crew can purchase what they need.   If your numbers are not received by then, you will not be considered in the meals.   As always tweaking is always done, but final numbers are needed by the 23^rd.

Could I get a list of allergies and food intolerances by that date also. 

All youth and adults need:   ditty bag, indoor shoes or slippers, sleeping bag, underlay.   Then their change of clothes, pjs, sleeping buddy.    Dress for the weather, rotations are outdoors.

There is always a snow sculpture activity.   Please bring items to make a snow sculpture on theme which is Star Wars… Prize will be given to the pack with the best snow sculpture.   (This is a pack activity).  

We need to know if you cub will be attending or not, preferably by Jan 21 at the meeting, or no later than 11:00 by Friday Jan 23

Here is the schedule.

Cubs can sign up for (a) the full sleepover or (b) just the Saturday Activities without the sleep over.

The Saturday activities are $20 / cub.

The full sleep over is $30 / cub.

3. Kub Kars

Cubs design, build, and decorate their cars at home with their parents.

Pit Stop Night

Rideau-Area Kub Kar Challenge

Date: Saturday Feb 21

This event is open to all cubs in the Rideau Area

I don't have the details yet but I will keep you posted.

Meeting January 14th - Toboggan Night!

Day: Wednesday, Jan 14th
Start Time: 18:30
End Time: 19:30 (note: this is a shorter meeting because we are outdoors and it may be cold)
Place: Four Seasons Park (note: we are not meeting at Bernard Grand Maitre)


The forecast looks ok (high of -12°C going down to -16°C but we'll have to watch the wind) and we have snow so lets have a toboggan night.

Cubs should:

• dress warmly and in layers. Mitts, boots, snow pants, hats or helmets, balaclava, etc.
• bring a sled, crazy carpet, etc
• flashlight or headlamp if they have a small one
