We are going to put on snow shoes (we have about 20 pairs of snow shoes) and go for a little hike around Mountain Meadows Park and through the trees.

The forecast is: Cloudy with 60% chance of flurries. Low minus 5°C. High zero.

  • jacket + snow pants
  • dress in layers: long underwear, regular layers, warm sweater
  • hat, mitts, face covering or scarf
  • boots and warm socks
  • headlight or flashlight
  • water bottle and a little snack
  • a daypack with the water bottle, snack, mug, and extra mitts would be a good idea

You do not need:
  • indoor shoes
  • cub books
  • dues

We are leaving from the school parking lot and will return to the school parking lot.

2. Bernard Grandmaitre Closed for March Break

Bernard Grandmaitre is closed for two weeks during march break so we have to meet somewhere else. Be prepared for an alternate meeting location.

4. Winter Camp Awacamenj Mino

Confirm Attendance: March 4th
Start: Friday March 27th
End: Sunday March 29th

The winter camp is booked by the 1st Manotick group.
Unfortunately A-Pack does not have a confirmed leader yet (a few of us are out of town).
However, if you are interested let me know by email or at the meeting on Wednesday and we will work with the other packs to figure something out.

From the invite:

Winter Camp - Friday March 27th - Sunday March 29th  We have reserved a large lodge (Seeonee) at Camp Awacamenj Mino for the weekend of March 27th - 29th.   The Camp belongs to the Quebec Scout Association and we have used the lodge several times in the last few years. It is located near Low Quebec, beyond St. Pirerre de Wakefield.  When the lodge has been used in the past everyone had a great time with snowshoeing and other outdoor activities.  The heated lodge has several bedrooms (sleep about 30) with bunk beds, a large common area, a commercial-style kitchen, running water with toilets, showers and a large heated basement.   We can reserve one bedroom for female Leaders/Parents/Cubs.
We will be making food purchases and organizing activities according to the confirmed number of participants.  Participants can plan on staying both Friday and Saturday nights or just one night if they have other plans.  Feel free to arrange car pooling with other parents.
The cost is $10 per Cub, $20 per adult. Please confirm by March 4th to Tom Toulouse, santomaru@live.ca, if you or your cub plan to attend.
Find attached the maps of directions to the camp and the camp itself, our lodge is noted as ‘C’ on the camp map. Please note that with the new road construction exit 28 on highway 5. This is reflected in the written instructions but the map beside the written instructions has not been updated…if I get the new version before the date I will resend with the right map.
